Rugby
The area around Richmond is synonymous with the sport of rugby union and there are major games, both club matches and internationals, played at Twickenham stadium throughout the year.
As well as being the home of the England rugby union side, there are a number of other rugby clubs in Richmond Borough:
Harlequins Rugby Club
The capital’s only remaining London-based Premiership side, The Quins play their home games at The Twickenham Stoop and enjoys a fantastic atmosphere on match days.
London Scottish Rugby Club
Another club with a rich history, London Scottish field six senior teams, an occasional veteran’s XI and numerous mini, youth and colts sides from their base at Richmond Athletic Ground.
London Welsh Rugby Club
Proving Richmond’s established link to rugby, London Welsh are a third club based a stone throw from Richmond town centre. Offering both serious and social rugby London Welsh play at Old Deer Park.
Richmond Rugby Club
Also playing their home games at Richmond Athletic Ground, this club run sides for all age groups, a women’s team and several senior XI’s.
Twickenham Rugby Club
Twickenham Rugby Club dates back over a hundred years and is still going to this day. Operating men’s, women’s, colts and veteran XI’s the club is always looking to attract new members. The club is based in Hampton.
